Debt Overview for Non-advisers

Training Overview:

Who is this course for? This e-training is designed to help staff and volunteers identify and support clients who may have debts, and to have a better understanding of when and how to make a good referral. This is not a course about the details of debt advice.
Aim The aim of the course is for delegates to understand the basics of a debt enquiry; to know what to do if their client requires support to deal with debts, to identify what might be a debt emergency, and to help prepare a client for an interview with another agency.
Objectives By the end of the course, delegates will have a better understanding of how debt advice can support a client and will:
  • Be able to identify the right organisation to refer to
  • Have a better understanding of what the debt advice process is
  • Be able to identify a debt emergency and when urgent support is needed
  • Be able to make active referrals by preparing clients for full debt advice
